According to the Code for Design of Building Fire Extinguisher Configuration GB50140, Class E fire places shall select ammonium phosphate dry powder fire extinguishers, sodium bicarbonate dry powder fire extinguishers, halogenated alkane fire extinguishers or carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, but carbon dioxide fire extinguishers equipped with metal horn nozzles shall not be selected.

Dry powder fire extinguishers can extinguish fires, but the residual powdery covering after fire extinguishing has a certain corrosive effect and dust pollution on electronic components, and is also difficult to clean; according to the Montreal Protocol, halogenated alkane fire extinguishers have been included in the national list of eliminated fire extinguishers in China and have gradually been replaced by clean gas fire extinguishers; clean gas fire extinguishers not only leave no residue after fire extinguishing, but also have no damage or corrosion to valuable and precision equipment.

Therefore, for the protection area of computer rooms where valuable equipment, electronic devices or materials are stored, the suitable fire extinguishers for computer rooms are gas fire extinguishers. Specifically, portable carbon dioxide, portable heptafluoropropane and other gas fire extinguishers can be selected.

In addition to being equipped with fire extinguishers, according to the Code for Design of Electronic Information System Computer Rooms, the computer room shall be equipped with a gas fire extinguishing system.

Basic requirements for fire maintenance of server computer rooms

1.Regularly inspect and test fire-fighting facilities to ensure their normal operation.

2.Regularly replace the sealing rings inside fire extinguishers and fire hydrants to ensure they are intact.

3.Avoid improper modification or alteration of fire-fighting equipment.

4.Do a good job in regular inflation of fire extinguishers and drainage of fire hydrants to ensure that the equipment is always in usable condition.

5.Provide training on the use guidance and operation skills of various fire-fighting equipment.

6.Do a good job in equipment cleaning, dust removal, moisture prevention, pollution prevention and daily inspection to maintain the service life of the equipment.

7.Prevent excessive use or overload of equipment, and appropriately share and adjust the use intensity.
